JAKOB PAULSEN - KEYBOARDS

I began playing piano when I was 11 years old. Two years later I joined the local Ten Sing group ("Responze") where I learned playing chords and solos in a band. In highschool I studied music and language and I also started as a pianist in the bigband ("Pianoforte"). Meanwhile I formed a cover band ("Details") with Morten Hoff (voc/bs), Søren Petersen (kb/gt), Martin Nørbaek (dr), Nicolai Sølling (bs), Anders Dirksen (gt), Malene Lorenzen (voc) and Lotte Lorenzen (voc).

During highschool I reciewed wonderful classic piano lessons by Ib Madsen. Before and after I graduated, I worked as a music teacher different places, and I was also the conductor and later the pianist in Aabenraa Gospel Choir.

In 1997 I started a band ("Speakin' Tube") in Herning with Søren Petersen (gt), Rune Bergen (bs) and Benjamin B. Pedersen (dr). Later vocalist Jacob Asmussen joined the band, which is still playing.

In 1998 I started as a classic pianist on a minor musical education (MGK). During the first year I admitted that pop and rock music was more interesting than the classic music, so the following year I began playing jazz for the first time. At MGK I met drummer Poul Terkildsen and bass player Jens Christian Nielsen with whom I joined in Chrome Shift in 1999.

After spending one year in Lillehammer, Norway (2000-2001) with my wife working for the Norwegian church with teenagers and several choirs, I began on my final semester at MGK. Enjoying my teacher and mentor Martin Schack I really learned how to express myself and work with inner strength.

In February 2002 I joined a promotion project called "Processen", a cover band ment to play several gigs a year, with Casper Mikkelsen (dr), Simon Bekker (gt), Sisse (voc) and Niels Kvist (bs). Otherwise I have played several ad hoc-gigs, written music to a gymnastic team and recorded different albums.
