OTTO SCHÜTT - GUITARS

Starts playing classical guitar at the age of 10. Awakens to rock music listening to Jimi Hendrix´ guitarplaying. Playing in local cover-bands until moving to Copenhagen. Studying architecture & literature while playing steel-string guitar solo and in duos. Returning to down-south Denmark in the late 70´s, playing in a long row of local amateur bands. Daytime jobs as constructionworker and lumberjack.

1982-85: Formal training in classical guitar, attenting classes with lute- & guitarplayer Peter Hall. This experience starts a life-long love with renaissance music, especially lute-music. Education as music-teacher for primary- and secondary school. Since mid-80´s teaching classical and steelstring guitar in public music-schools. Later on teaching electric-guitar-fretboard-mechanics as private teacher.

1984-86: Guitarplayer in "Schoepfer Band", a local amateur band with original material.

1987-93: Cofounder of "Zap!". Writing words & music to 4 full sets : "The Fiend", "The Beach at Falesa", "Vanishing Point" (Played live and broadcasted in full length by Danmarks Radio) and "The People that could Fly" - all unreleased. In the same period writing a handfull of musicals and a lot of songs for use in primary and secondary school. Compiling and writing a manual in fretboard-mechanics for use with own students (never released).

1993-94: "Zap!" is disbanded. From the remains O.S., drummer Tommy Hansen and vocalist/bassplayer Kim Elmerdahl.continue as "Friends", a three-piece cover band.

1994-96: With the addition of keyboardplayer Per Solgaard the band transforms to "Resistance" and plays original compositions again.

1996-98: Long time play-mate Jens C. Nielsen (bass), Tommy Hansen (drums), Shane Dhiman (vocals) and O.S. form the band "Shane". After producing a 3-song demo in 96, in spring 97 a full lenght demo, "Worlds Within Worlds" (all mords and music by O.S.) is recorded i Aabenraa Studios with Jakob Hansen as producer. Though rewiews and acceptance are very positive, the band breaks up the same summer and the music is never released exept "Worlds Within" on a Metalized compilation-album.

1998: A new band is formed by J.C.N. and O.S., at first without a singer, with Poul Terkildsen (drums) and Jakob Poulsen (keyboards). Later Rasmus Bak (vocals) is added to the band.

2000: "Chrome Shift" produces a 3-song demo, again with Jakob Hansen as producer. The following years the bandmembers, though living far apart, continue to work on a full lenght set of songs, which emerges as the new, full-lenght demo-record "Ripples In Time" in 2002.

O.S. uses Ibanez Universe 7-string guitars since 1992 in combination with Hughes & Kettner Edition 1 amps and Rocktron effects.

Favorite bands/musicians: At present O.S. listens a lot to Pain of Salvation, Planet X, and the piano-works of E. Satie.

Favorite guitarplayers: Is always inspired by G.P. Telemann, M. Ponce,Steve Vai, Tony MacAlpine & Greg Howe.

Other sources of inspiration: M. Manara, C. Castaneda & Sogyal Rinpoche.
