RASMUS BAK - VOCALS

Rasmus started to play piano at the age of 9 and electrical guitar when he was 11. Forming his first rock band in the early 90's he realized that he would have to take singing lessons in order to become successful. It didn't take long until he discovered the greatness and almost unlimited possibilities of the human voice and thus he started putting much effort into voice training, still without skipping the guitar and the piano.

He spent a year at a school of music and drama before he in 1998 was admitted to a 3-year minor music education (MGK) with rythmic singing as his main subject. While attending this and highschool at the same time he played in different bands and tried out styles like jazz, fusion and drum 'n' bass. A remarkable event from this period of his carreer is when his own popsong ended up among the finalists in a big song contest in his home town Aarhus. He performed it successfully in front of 3000 wild spectators.

When he had finished highschool and the MGK he got an ensemble role in a new production of the CHESS musical. This brought him to the large stages of Denmark. Together with Stig Rossen and other famous singers from all over the world he went on stage 60 times with this touring show that was seen by more than 80,000 people and broadcasted on Danish national television.

Apart from this he has been a principal in smaller productions like Shakespeare's A Midsummernight's Dream, Hair, Ragnarock (a cybermusical) and A Bug's Life for which he also wrote music. He has done studio recordings with producer Nigel Wright who has been working with Madonna, Boyzone and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Rasmus is a keen composer and songwriter and his style is influenced by the experimental pop and rock scene. Since early 2000 he has been the lead singer of Chrome Shift.
